Benny Sharpe

Benny Sharpe was born in Catawba County, but grew up in the town of Beulaville, in Duplin County, near his mother’s family.

Later, after moving to Jacksonville, Sharpe played football at Jacksonville High School and graduated in 1956.

Sharpe attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned an undergraduate degree in history in 1960 and graduated from law school three years later.

Sharpe’s first legal job was in the office of Dan Edwards in Durham.

After being approached by the superintendent of Lee County Schools to be an assistant football coach, Sharpe took the coaching job and taught math at the junior high school.

Sharpe said he wasn’t sure if he wanted to practice law or not but returned to the legal world after deciding coaching wasn’t for him.

Following the coaching stint, Sharpe moved back to Jacksonville but wound up getting a job in Richmond County with Webb, Lee and Davis.

Sharpe said he mainly focuses on real estate and criminal law.
